Job Summary
The Recess Aide is responsible for supervising students during recess periods at St Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church while ensuring a safe, positive, and faith-filled environment. This position promotes student safety, encourages appropriate social interactions, monitors playground activities, and supports the school's mission by fostering respectful behavior and good sportsmanship.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise students during assigned recess periods and ensure their safety at all times.
- Monitor playground activities and enforce school rules and safety procedures.
- Encourage positive student interactions, inclusion, and good sportsmanship.
- Address minor conflicts and behavioral concerns using appropriate disciplinary practices.
- Report accidents, injuries, safety concerns, or significant behavioral issues to school administration.
- Assist students with problem-solving and conflict resolution when needed.
- Ensure students remain within designated play areas.
- Support smooth transitions between recess and classroom activities.
- Communicate professionally with faculty, staff, and administration regarding student concerns.
- Assist with supervision during inclement weather indoor recess periods as assigned.
- Uphold the mission, values, and teachings of the Catholic Church and St Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, recreation, or related setting preferred.
- Ability to effectively supervise groups of students in an outdoor setting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to remain alert, attentive, and responsive to student safety needs.
- Demonstrated patience, dependability, and professionalism.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and administration.
- Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise students outdoors for extended periods.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
- Successful completion of required background checks, Safe Environment training, and Archdiocesan requirements.
