Job Summary

The PSR Teacher is responsible for providing religious education and faith formation to children and youth enrolled in the Parish School of Religion program. This position helps students grow in their knowledge of Catholic teachings, Scripture, prayer, sacraments, and Christian living while fostering a welcoming and faith-filled learning environment that supports the mission of St. Catherine Labouré Parish.

Job Description

  • Plan and teach lessons based on the PSR curriculum and diocesan guidelines.
  • Instruct students in Catholic doctrine, Scripture, prayer, sacraments, and moral teachings.
  • Create a positive, engaging, and respectful classroom environment.
  • Encourage students' spiritual growth and participation in the life of the Church.
  • Lead classroom prayer and faith-based activities.
  • Maintain attendance and communicate student progress or concerns to PSR leadership and parents as appropriate.
  • Support sacramental preparation programs as assigned.
  • Model Christian values and Catholic teachings in word and action.
  • Follow parish safe environment policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Religious Education, clergy, catechists, and volunteers to support program goals.

Job Qualifications

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
  • Knowledge of Catholic teachings, traditions, and practices.
  • Previous teaching, catechetical, or youth ministry experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and parish staff.
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
  • Dependable, patient, and committed to faith formation.
  • Completion of diocesan Safe Environment requirements and any required catechist certification or training.
  • Ability to support and promote the mission and values of St. Catherine Labouré Parish.
