Job Summary


Seven Holy Founders Parish is seeking a faith-filled and committed 7th Grade Catechist to support the parish's religious education program. The Catechist is responsible for teaching the Catholic faith to 7th grade students, fostering spiritual growth, preparing lessons aligned with diocesan and parish curriculum, and creating a welcoming environment that encourages active participation in the life of the Church. This individual serves as a witness to the Gospel through word and example while helping students develop a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and an understanding of Catholic teachings and traditions.

Job Description

The 7th Grade Catechist serves as a volunteer or part-time ministry leader within the Faith Formation program at Seven Holy Founders Parish. The Catechist plans and delivers weekly catechetical instruction, promotes faith development, and collaborates with parish staff, parents, and other catechists to support the religious formation of students. The position requires knowledge of Catholic doctrine, strong communication skills, and a commitment to the mission and values of the Catholic Church.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach weekly faith formation lessons for 7th grade students using the approved parish and diocesan curriculum.
  • Present Catholic doctrine, scripture, prayer, sacraments, morality, and Church traditions in an age-appropriate manner.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and Christ-centered classroom environment.
  • Encourage student participation in prayer, worship, service activities, and parish life.
  • Serve as a role model of Catholic values and Christian discipleship.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Religious Education, parish staff, and fellow catechists to support program goals.
  • Maintain attendance records and other required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding classroom activities, expectations, and student progress.
  • Attend catechist meetings, training sessions, retreats, and formation opportunities as required.
  • Support parish policies related to child safety, diocesan safe environment requirements, and confidentiality standards.
  • Assist with special religious education events, service projects, liturgical celebrations, and sacramental preparation activities as assigned.
  • Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports the spiritual growth of all students.
  • Perform other related faith formation duties as assigned by the Director of Religious Education or Pastor.
