Strata‑G Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join our manufacturing team in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will contribute directly to our customers' mission success by supporting high‑quality fabrication, assembly, and lifecycle manufacturing operations. Role Overview

In this role, you will interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and product specifications to plan, fabricate, assemble, and install sheet‑metal components and mechanical assemblies. You will support production activities across multiple programs and ensure all work meets engineering, quality, and safety requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Sheet‑metal fabrication - Plan, lay out, fabricate, and assemble sheet‑metal parts, equipment, and products according to engineering documentation.
  • Material selection - Select appropriate gauges and materials (galvanized steel, aluminum, copper, plastics, fiberglass) based on product specifications.
  • Precision layout - Lay out and mark dimensions, reference lines, and patterns using templates, drawings, or CAD‑derived instructions.
  • Machine operation - Set up and operate fabrication equipment including shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, routers, and other shop machinery.
  • Finishing operations - Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces to meet dimensional and cosmetic requirements.
  • Mechanical assembly - Assemble structural or supportive frameworks according to blueprints and work instructions.
  • Inspection & quality - Inspect assemblies and subassemblies for conformance to specifications, tolerances, and workmanship standards.
  • Repair & maintenance - Repair, modify, and maintain sheet‑metal products and mechanical assemblies as required.
  • Physical requirements - Stand, walk, climb, and sit as needed; use hands to operate tools and equipment; occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Safety compliance - Wear ANSI‑approved footwear, safety glasses, ear protection, and follow all facility safety protocols.

Minimum Skills & Competencies

  • Hand‑tool proficiency - Ability to safely and effectively use mechanical and fabrication hand tools.
  • Technical communication - Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, engineers, and team members.
  • Basic math skills - Ability to work with measurements, fractions, tolerances, and basic mathematical concepts used in fabrication.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing, sheet‑metal work, mechanical assembly, or related technical trade.
