Leidos’ Defense Systems Electronics Manufacturing Facility is seeking a Cable Manufacturing Process Writer to join our team to create unique solutions for complex problems. This position will be part of engineering team located in Huntsville AL.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare simple, clear, robust, error-proved, and repeatable assembly work instructions for technicians utilizing a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) such as Solumina or Aegis Factory Logix.
  • Work closely with quality to ensure all criteria is met in regard to material traceability, tool identification management, etc. within MES work instructions.
  • Support the implementation of engineering change notice (ECN) and variations into New and Existing process instructions.
  • Understand and support review of Bill of Materials (BOM), assembly drawings and assembly instructions
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities in support of developing procedures/work instructions that will lead to follow-on production
  • Support process development for new initiatives including process enhancements, new equipment operating procedures, etc.
  • Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering team to create standardized process plans and capture accurate engineering standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidate must have a High School diplome/GED with 2-4 years of prior relevant work experience
  • Ability to interpret both cable assembly drawings to meet customer requirements.
  • Candidate shall have a solid understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, specifically related to cable assemblies, but also printed circuit board assembly.
  • Candidate should also have understanding of tooling calibration requirements and material shelf life requirements.
  • Candidate should have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Candidate must be organized, flexible, and multi-task successfully, while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Candidate shall have experience with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and software that maintains bills of materials, product routings, and production data.
  • Experience working with standards and implementation of standards across cross-functional teams.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a final secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics from an accredited university, and have at least 2 years of applicable manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with Solumina MES software or other MES software.
  • Has, or have obtained, certifications in J-STD-001, IPC/WHAA-A-620, IPC-A-610
  • Experience with Costpoint Material Planning software
  • Windchill PLM engineering design data management software
  • Lean Manufacturing Principles and Application
  • Military and Aerospace assembly techniques
