Job Description/Duties and Responsibilities

This position requires good working knowledge and experience in data acquisition.  The position also requires working/basic knowledge of system administration, and IT Security Planning. The Candidate will have the ability to install and upgrade PC applications, operating systems, and tools. This role will provide support for NASA|MSFC Propulsion Test Branches.  The successful candidate will work closely with both NASA and contractor personnel.

Essential Functions

• Ensure data acquisition, distribution and processing
• Support VLANs, LANs, cabling, and configurations in the testing environment
• Support assigned IT Security Plan(s)
• Configure computers with current OS and custom applications
• Systems Backup and Recovery Management
• Good analytical skills
• Team player mentality
• Ability to interface with customer(s). Professionalism in government environment
• Critical writing skills for documentation and reporting

Operations Support Functions

• Familiar with test setup, data distribution, and data processing
• Follow procedure and protocol for handling secure data
• Monitoring systems for hazard conditions

Network and System Administration Support Functions

• Support network port configurations
• Request new IP’s and configure when necessary
• Maintain and update systems network documentation
• Configure voice paging and notification hardware

Travel Requirements (%): up to 10%

Education, Training and Experience

Minimum Experience:

• Functional and/or technical knowledge | experience in support of data acquisition, scripting language, and basic network management.

Minimum Requirement:

• A Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or IT-related discipline is desired, with minimum of two (2) years’ experience in related field.
