Job Description:

Responsibilities

Clinical Analytics

  • Build and evaluate predictive models to support clinical decision-making, including patient risk stratification, readmission prediction, care gap identification, and chronic disease management.
  • Analyze EHR data, claims data, scheduling data, and operational metrics to surface actionable insights for clinical and administrative leadership.
  • Support population health initiatives by identifying high-risk patient cohorts and modeling intervention effectiveness.
  • Contribute to revenue cycle analytics including denial prediction, coding accuracy analysis, and patient financial risk modeling.
  • Design and analyze operational experiments to measure the impact of workflow, staffing, or care protocol changes.

Report Automation & Data Pipelines

  • Design, build, and maintain automated reporting pipelines that deliver scheduled clinical, operational, and financial reports to stakeholders with minimal manual intervention.
  • Migrate recurring manual Excel or ad-hoc reports into scalable, version-controlled Python or SQL-based automated workflows.
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes to extract data from Onco by Flatiron, practice management platforms, and other source systems, transforming it into analysis-ready datasets.
  • Build self-service dashboards and automated alerting in Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools, enabling clinical and operational teams to monitor key metrics in near real-time.
  • Implement data quality checks and validation steps within pipelines to catch anomalies, missing records, or upstream data issues before they reach end users.
  • Document pipeline logic, data lineage, refresh schedules, and business rules to support auditability and knowledge transfer.

Workflow & Task Automation

  • Identify manual, repetitive data and reporting tasks across clinical and operational teams and develop automated solutions to reduce burden and improve accuracy.
  • Build Python or PowerShell scripts to automate file transfers, data reconciliation, report distribution, and other routine operational workflows.
  • Collaborate with IT and clinical informatics teams to integrate automation solutions with EHR APIs, SFTP feeds, and internal data warehouses.
  • Support automation of quality measure reporting submissions (HEDIS, MIPS/MACRA) and regulatory data extracts.
  • Evaluate and recommend low-code/no-code automation tools (e.g., Power Automate) where appropriate for non-technical stakeholders.

Collaboration & Compliance

  • Partner with clinical informatics and data engineering teams to access, validate, and transform data from our oncology EHR platform (Onco by Flatiron) and other source systems.
  • Ensure all analytical work and automated workflows adhere to HIPAA regulations, data governance policies, and institutional IRB requirements.
  • Maintain well-documented, reproducible code in a shared repository; actively participate in peer code reviews and sprint planning.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–5 years of professional experience in data science, clinical analytics, health informatics, or a closely related field.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biostatistics, Health Informatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline — or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, including experience building automated data pipelines and scheduled reporting workflows.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning methods including regression, classification, ensemble models, and survival analysis.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and structures such as HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, CPT, and SNOMED.
  • Understanding of HIPAA compliance requirements and responsible handling of protected health information (PHI).
  • Experience working with oncology or specialty EHR-generated datasets, including comfort with real-world clinical data complexity.
  • Experience building or maintaining dashboards and reports in Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent BI tools.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings and workflow designs clearly to clinical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort with Git or similar version control tools in a collaborative development setting.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience with Onco by Flatiron or other oncology-focused EHR platforms.
  • Experience with task automation tools such as Power Automate, Apache Airflow, or similar workflow orchestration platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based healthcare analytics platforms (Azure Health Data Services, AWS HealthLake, Google Cloud Healthcare API).
  • Experience with NLP techniques applied to clinical notes or unstructured medical text.
  • Knowledge of value-based care models, quality measure reporting (HEDIS, MIPS/MACRA), or ACO analytics.
  • Familiarity with oncology-specific data concepts such as treatment regimens, staging, clinical trial enrollment, and cancer registry reporting.
  • Familiarity with IRB processes and clinical research data workflows.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, bonus, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and retirement.
  • The opportunity to do meaningful work that directly impacts patient care and clinical outcomes.
  • Mentorship from experienced data scientists and clinical informatics professionals.
