We are seeking a seasoned Human Resources professional to join our team with a strong emphasis on employee relations, leave management, and HR compliance. This position is ideal for an experienced HR professional who is comfortable working directly with employees and leaders, handling sensitive and confidential matters, conducting workplace investigations, administering corrective action, and managing employee leaves and accommodations.

 

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience preferred, particularly in employee relations and leave administration.
  • Manufacturing or industrial HR experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience handling confidential and sensitive employee matters.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR practices, and workplace policies.
  • Experience managing employee leaves, attendance, accommodations, investigations, and corrective action.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, HRIS, and other HR-related systems.
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety requirements and applicable quality/environmental management systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations & HR Support
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and workplace issues.
  • Build positive employee relations through fair, consistent, and respectful resolution of employee concerns.
  • Conduct workplace investigations, document findings, and make recommendations for appropriate action.
  • Partner with managers and supervisors on performance management, attendance issues, corrective action, and other employee relations matters.
  • Administer disciplinary actions and participate in termination meetings and related follow-up.
  • Facilitate employee meetings, focus groups, and other employee engagement initiatives.
  • Develop and communicate HR-related policies, programs, and employee communications.
  • Leave Management & Employee Support
  • Manage and coordinate employee leave processes, including tracking, documentation, status updates, and return-to-work activities.
  • Serve as a resource for employees and leaders regarding leave-related questions and requirements.
  • Coordinate appropriate return-to-work processes and work closely with management and other applicable parties.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records related to leaves, accommodations, and employee wellness matters.
  • Respond to and track employee wellness concerns and help coordinate appropriate resources.
  • Attendance & HR Administration
  • Administer the company's attendance program, including monitoring attendance, timekeeping exceptions, point systems, and corrective action.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS information, employment status changes, pay changes, vacation information, and performance documentation.
  • Partner with Payroll to resolve employee payroll and timekeeping questions.
  • Track and report HR metrics, including absenteeism, turnover, recruitment, and other key performance indicators.
  • Maintain employee files and ensure HR documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Benefits & Recruitment
  • Support benefits administration, including employee enrollments and serving as a liaison between employees and benefit providers.
  • Support hourly recruitment activities, including resume review, phone screening, interviews, testing, reference checks, and offers.
  • Assist with internal job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and selection processes.
  • Support external recruitment activities as needed.
  • Participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee activities and other workplace safety initiatives.
  • Support wellness, health, and return-to-work programs.
  • Coordinate and maintain training records and divisional training requirements.
  • Conduct new employee orientation and applicable safety/training sessions.
  • Perform required testing and compliance activities, including color testing and respirator fit testing.
  • Conduct HR/HRIS and other required audits.
  • Employee Engagement & Communication
  • Develop and distribute employee communications and HR materials.
  • Support employee recognition programs and company events.
  • Assist with company newsletter development and publication.
  • Help coordinate employee meetings, engagement activities, and special projects.

 

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced HR professional who can confidently step into difficult employee conversations, navigate sensitive situations, support leaders, and independently manage complex HR matters.

 

You should be comfortable asking tough questions, maintaining confidentiality, interpreting policy, documenting appropriately, and balancing the needs of employees with the needs of the business. Strong judgment, discretion, consistency, and the ability to build trust at all levels of the organization are essential.
