Job Description

  

Position Summary

Teledyne Brown Engineering is hiring an Operations Research (OR) Analyst to join our Medical Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis team in support of the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC). The OR Analyst will conduct analyses of expeditionary medical systems and assist in the development of modeling and simulation tools for performing such analysis.

Position Responsibilities

The OR Analyst will support the design, development, and verification and validation of military medical modeling and simulation software. The OR Analyst will also perform analyses for NHRC and other organizations within the Department of Defense. The analyst will interface with customers and the software development team, develop and execute analysis plans, author technical reports and presentations, present results to customers and at professional conferences, directly support customers with onsite analysis and model development, and occasionally provide training or software support to external users.

Education Requirements:

Requires a bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Analytics, Data Science or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience Requirements:

0-2 years of relevant work experience.

Skill Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • A robust understanding of basic statistical theory and common applications relevant to simulation modeling.
  • A robust understanding of modeling and simulation principles.
  • Education or experience using discrete event simulation models or commercial simulation software (e.g. Arena, Simio, ProModel, FlexSim, etc.).
  • Proficiency with relational databases and Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Proficiency in a scripting language (e.g. Python and/or R).
  • Excellent data manipulation and data visualization skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity or experience with machine learning algorithms.
  • Education or experience using commercial or open-source optimization software (e.g. GAMS, CPLEX, Pyomo, etc.).
  • Knowledge of software development concepts.
  • Experience with software quality assurance.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Experience working within the Department of Defense.
  • Experience working within the Military Health System.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Security Clearance.
  • The position may require approximately 10% travel.
