Astrion is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to support the Marshall Engineering Technicians and Trades Support (METTS) III contract at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) located on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

 

The Manufacturing Engineer will support our NASA customer on the Marshall Engineering Technical and Trade Services (METTS) Contract. The Manufacturing Engineer will support developing, improving, and supporting manufacturing processes/systems, equipment, and methods to increase efficiency, quality, safety, and cost effectiveness. This role works closely with production/machine shop, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and implement sustainable process improvements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve products or reduce costs.
  • Determines root causes of failures and recommends changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Incorporates new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
  • Supervises technicians, technologists, analysts, administrative staff, or other engineers.
  • Troubleshoots new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
  • Reviews product designs for manufacturability or completeness.
  • Trains production personnel in new or existing methods.
  • Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
  • Designs, installs, or troubleshoots manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to interface with customers/teammates at all levels.

Essential Job Functions:

 

• Effective communication (written and verbal) skills.
• Must adhere to MSFC and OSHA safety requirements, including use of appropriate PPE when necessary and follow written technical procedures.
