Work Location:            Huntsville, AL

Mid-Level Aerospace Engineer provides Space and Missile Defense Center of Excellence (CoE) with professional engineering, technical and programmatic assistance to support efforts in development of a NCR-IADS MIC. Advisory and assistance services may include advisory assistance support in; vulnerability and risk assessment and mitigation; project justification and defense; program planning; evaluation and analyses of programs, projects, budgets and performance; and project execution, transition and commercialization. This also includes providing programmatic support in the development and preparation of acquisition and procurement documents. These services are comprehensively categorized as Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support services. As such, SETA support must expeditiously acquire the fundamental understanding of CoE’s mission support to the National Capital Regions Integrated Air Defense systems overall and respective Management and Integration offices’ mission, practices, policies, and procedures; and respond professionally and promptly to mission needs within a demanding, challenging, and evolving environment.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports annual Exercise American Shield (EAS) and Culminating Training Exercise (CTE) by deploying multiple network assets across fiber, copper, Radio Frequency (RF), and Microwave equipment. Understanding of the use and operations of Encryption devices. 
  • Provides monthly support to the operational AMD Task Force for Avenger.
  • Provides additional support during training exercises and certification events as required.
  • Performs system trusted downloads, maintain and update host system patches, implement mandated system vulnerability mitigations. Develop required artifacts to support accreditation.
  • Conducts vulnerability scans, identify the correct applicable Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) checklists for each system and determine the compliance status for all STIG checks applicable
  • Requires the individual to obtain/maintain classified systems administrative privileges for SIPRNet. 
  • Assists in the preparation, review, and evaluation of program documentation for management and technical reviews.
  • Requires approximately 25% travel, including to remote locations, with exposure to extreme heat and cold for extended periods of 4+ hours.
  • Requires the use of protective clothing appropriate to the work location (e.g., thick boots, hats).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use tools or controls; normal physical activity (reach with hands and arms; climb stairs); and communicate effectively with all levels of employees and leadership. The employee must occasionally lift or move tactical cases filled with sensitive equipment, up to 50 pounds.

 

Education and General experience: 

  • Employee must have a bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiar with communications and network support for NCR-IADS testing and training environment.
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge on the NCR-IADS operational communications architecture.
  • Deep understanding of Sentinel A3 radar and components unique to NCR-IADS.
  • Familiar with Avenger weapon system.
  • Familiar with Risk Management Framework (RMF) process with the ability to do some level of STIG’s and Patches for multiple system platforms.    
  • Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance. Per federal requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this level of clearance.
