Software Engineer / Computer Science Developer (Mid-Senior Level)
Location: Huntsville, AL
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance (no active clearance required to apply)
Crossflow Technologies, Inc. is looking for a mid- to senior-level software engineer who can both design solid systems and explain why they chose one approach over another. You will be part of a tight, highly collaborative scrum team delivering business-to-business applications for commercial nuclear energy customers and advanced multi-domain operations analysis for the Department of Defense.
If you enjoy building real systems, thinking through architectural tradeoffs, and communicating clearly with both engineers and non-engineers, you will fit in well.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain full-stack applications in a fast-moving Agile/Scrum environment
- Work across domains including commercial nuclear energy analytics and defense modeling and analysis
- Develop and evaluate multiple architectural approaches for a given problem
- Clearly articulate cost, performance, scalability, risk, and schedule tradeoffs between design options
- Collaborate with technical leadership to make informed architecture decisions
- Design and optimize backend services, APIs, and data pipelines
- Own your code from design through deployment and ongoing sustainment
- Contribute to software architecture standards and long-term technical direction
What We're Looking For
Core skills (must have):
- Strong background working in Agile / Scrum teams
- Python development experience systems
- Full-stack development experience across frontend and backend
- Strong SQL database design and utilization skills
- Demonstrated focus on efficiency, performance, and optimization
- Containerization experience with Docker
- GitLab CI/CD pipeline experience
- Strong software architecture and design background
- Ability to produce and explain UML diagrams and architectural views
- Comfort working in Linux environments
- Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly to mixed technical and non-technical audiences
Nice to have (strong plus):
- Orchestration experience with Docker Swarm and or Kubernetes (k8s)
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler or other MBSE tools
- Experience performing or supporting architecture trade studies
- Familiarity with nuclear, defense, modeling, simulation, or analytical workflows
- Experience supporting secure or regulated environments

401(k) RETIREMENT PLAN & COMPANY MATCHING
Crossflow uses Principal as our 401(k) plan sponsor. Employees can choose payroll deduction and fund investing options. Payroll deductions will begin the month following your enrollment. Crossflow matches 100% of the first 3% of compensation, plus 50% of the next 2% of compensation.

GENEROUS PTO ACCRUAL & FLEXIBLE LEAVE POLICY
Crossflow currently grants 11 federally observed paid holidays. In addition to these holidays, Crossflow offers a minimum of 2 weeks of paid time off (PTO) to all full-time employees. Employees may utilize PTO for any reason (sickness, vacation, personal day, etc.) and can carry over a maximum of 120 hours from year to year. Many employees are authorized to work additional hours within a normal, forty-hour pay period. This approval is included in the employee's offer letter for employment. These extra hours may be banked for compensatory (comp) time off.
