Sr. EHS Specialist

Opportunity

Identify, develop and participate in the implementation of environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs and related projects through risk identification, working with management, associate teams and EHS staff to promote significant EHS improvements at the site. Additional responsibilities include the evaluation of new safety equipment, improving and expanding upon existing EHS programs, and continued development of safety awareness.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Identify and coordinate safety improvement plans ensuring the continuous improvement of safety in new or existing products, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintain all OSHA required programs, training, logs, records and reports.
  • Coordinate EHS Training Programs for upper management, supervision, hourly associates, etc.
  • Maintain training documents and attendance database.
  • Perform accident investigations. With Corporate assistance, suggest corrective actions and  implementation schedules for changes designed to prevent future reoccurrence of injury.
  • Manage the return to work and light duty programs.
  • Conduct risk and hazard analysis for critical positions. Maintain statistical analysis of associate accidents and injuries to target specific areas for Risk Assessment and Job Hazard Analysis.
  • Provide monthly safety reviews and targeted compliance audits. Present report on compliance status and any corrective actions.
  • Implement safety related capital projects, including the evaluation, justification, ACT preparation and follow-up.
  • Work with Corp. EHS and medical provider to evaluate lost and restricted work days, etc. and recommend improvements.
  • Work with Corp. EHS (workers comp) to evaluate workers compensation claims. Assist with establishing reserves and claim closure strategies.
  • Coordinate and present monthly safety meeting topics for upper management, supervision, hourly associates, etc.
  • Understand and communicate pertinent EHS government regulations, Kohler EHS standards and best practices to management and associates.
  • Lead and/or facilitate EHS Awareness Programs, EHS events and Ergonomic Teams.

Skills/Requirements

  • Four year degree in Engineering, Safety or environmental-related field preferred
  • Five to seven years experience in a safety related role within an industrial setting preferred
  • The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to function as a team leader, able to foster management and associate participation, have good interpersonal communication and computer skills.
