Sr. HR Generalist

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Onsite - Huntsville, AL

Shift Requirement:  Must be available to work PM shift: Monday through Friday

The Senior Human Resources Generalist at our Huntsville Manufacturing Plant plays a critical role in supporting leaders and associates in a high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment. This position serves as a strategic and hands-on HR partner, ensuring that HR practices support operational excellence, workforce stability, and leadership effectiveness—particularly during PM and early-morning operations.

This role reports to the Plant HR Manager / Director of Human Resources and is a key contributor to employee relations, talent development, performance management, and compliance initiatives across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted HR business partner to manufacturing leaders, supervisors, and associates across assigned departments and shifts
  • Provide visible and responsive HR support during PM/early-morning operations
  • Manage and resolve complex employee and labor relations matters in alignment with company policy, employment law, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
  • Coach leaders on corrective action, investigations, attendance management, performance improvement, and documentation
  • Support grievance handling, fact-finding, and preparation in partnership with HR leadership
  • Coordinate exempt and salaried non-exempt hiring, partnering with leaders to define hiring profiles and workforce needs
  • Utilize Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and internal/external talent pipelines to attract and retain top talent
  • Drive consistent application of performance management processes, including goal setting, evaluations, and development planning
  • Identify and support development of high-potential talent and succession readiness for critical roles
  • Facilitate stand-up training sessions and leadership development aligned to manufacturing operations
  • Leverage HR dashboards and metrics to proactively address trends related to turnover, absenteeism, staffing, and engagement
  • Participate in plant leadership and HR meetings to align HR strategies with business objectives
  • Support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong employee and labor relations expertise
  • Ability to influence and coach leaders in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and union environments
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using HR metrics to guide decisions
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across HR and operations
  • Experience training employees on policies and procedures a plus

 

Work Environment & Schedule

This position requires on-site presence at the Huntsville Manufacturing Plant and availability to work one of the following schedules:

  • 2:00 AM - 11:30 AM, Monday - Friday
  • 3:00 AM - 12:30 PM, Monday - Friday

Skills/Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Demonstrated success managing complex employee relations issues
  • Experience supporting multiple departments or business units
  • Ability to provide hands-on HR support during off-shift operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing environment experience
  • Union/labor relations experience
  • Experience supporting 24/7 or multi-shift operations
