Leidos’ Defense Systems / Manufacturing is seeking a talented Environmental Test Manager to join our Space Hardware team in Huntsville, AL.   This role will oversee the implementation of space-based sensor test equipment and test processes for our customers at Leidos’ Huntsville offices across a multi-shift operation.  This position will support the integration and testing of complex aerospace systems, ensuring hardware and systems perform as designed. You will work in an Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T) environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage a test team consisting of approximately seven Engineers and Technicians across three shifts.
  • Execute test activities to verify hardware and system performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute test procedures that support vehicle integration and delivery.
  • Coordinate daily test readiness and execution across multiple disciplines and support teams.
  • Analyze test results and document findings in clear, accurate reports.
  • Identify, document, and support resolution of discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, program management, and customer teams to meet technical, schedule, and cost objectives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with at least 12 years of manufacturing engineering or test engineering or Masters degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 10 or more years of manufacturing engineering or test engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience testing space systems in a production or operational environment.
  • Background in manufacturing engineering or test engineering.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Hands-on experience with functional, thermal and vibe test equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships with customers, program teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Candidate must be able to lead a diverse engineering team, in a dedicated workforce.
  • Must be a US Citizen and must possess and maintain a Final Secret Clearance or meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a final secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering degree.
