Description

ACT1 Federal supports the 705th Training Squadron under the 505th Command and Control Wing at Hurlburt Field, FL in executing its mission of delivering operational-level Command and Control training and expertise.

ACT1 is seeking a Joint Advanced Fires Senior Academic Instructor – Targeting Lead to support advanced academics, evaluation, and training for the Joint Advanced Fires Qualification Course (JAFQC).

JAFQC is a Joint Staff-directed qualification course that prepares select joint force personnel for assignment to Combatant Command Joint Fires organizations. The Targeting Lead serves as primary instructional faculty and evaluator for operational-level targeting, effects synchronization, and joint targeting integration within Combatant Command environments.

This position supports curriculum delivery emphasizing Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2), multidomain synchronization of effects, operational targeting processes, and integration of classified and compartmented military capabilities supporting Combatant Command objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary instructor and evaluator for Joint Advanced Fires Qualification Course (JAFQC) targeting curriculum and practical exercises.
  • Provide hands-on guidance, technical expertise, and performance evaluation of students throughout all phases of JAFQC execution.
  • Deliver platform instruction including lesson plan development, research, instructional design, creation of training materials, and classroom facilitation.
  • Develop and refine operational-level targeting scenarios, evaluation criteria, and performance metrics supporting practical exercises, Part Task Training, and Full Mission Training events.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in operational-level joint targeting and effects planning to support command and control exercises and training events.
  • Support advanced instruction related to targeting processes, authorities, synchronization of effects, and integration across Joint Force components.
  • Participate in joint force exercises as an Observer/Trainer or role player in support of Joint Staff Joint Fires Integration Division requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement of JAFQC curriculum and instructional methodology.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance eligibility.
  • Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited university or college (Service professional military education schools may satisfy this requirement where applicable).
  • Minimum of 24 months of experience within the past six (6) years in a Joint Force Headquarters (Combatant Command or Joint Task Force) in one or more of the following:
    • Joint Fires Element (JFE)
    • Joint Targets Cell (J2T)
    • Service Targeting Center
    • Fires and Effects Team/Cell
    • Joint Intelligence Operations Center (JIOC)
    • Service Component Intelligence Directorate (J2 equivalent / ISRD)
  • Minimum 12 years of Department of Defense military experience as a commissioned officer.
  • Demonstrated military instructional experience; formal platform instruction experience preferred.
  • Graduate of Service Targeting School or Joint Targeting School (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Operational-level joint targeting
    • Effects planning and synchronization
    • Development of Plans and Orders
    • Functional integration of authorities and effects across Joint Force components (e.g., JFLCC, JFACC, etc.)
  • Ability to travel within and outside CONUS in support of training and exercises (up to 25%).

Desired Qualifications

  • Completion of Professional Military Education for grade (Intermediate Developmental Education (IDE)).
  • Joint Qualified Officer (JQO) designation.
  • Graduate of a Service Weapons and Tactics Instructor School/Course (e.g., Weapons School, TOP GUN, equivalent).
  • Experience supporting Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) initiatives.
  • Experience supporting Combatant Command-level operational planning and targeting processes.
