Description

Marshall Farms Barrier Tech is responsible for all aspects of barrier beagle production. This includes maintaining a clean, safe and healthy animal environment by cleaning, inspecting, the animal housing enclosures. Animal husbandry and production tasks which include breeding, whelp, tattoos, health monitoring, observations, and preventative treatments as well as general maintenance.  


Essential Tasks include:

  • Groups and moves animals as directed in an accurate and expeditious manner using proper handling techniques while noting and reporting/ treating animal morbidity issues. 
  • Ensures animals are fed
  • Breeding, Whelping, Treating, Apply tattoos, shipping
  • Maintains appropriate animal records electronically. 
  • Wash, sanitize, and rinse pens and animal buildings and incoming supplies using a high- pressure washer.
  • Ensure that all entry and biosecurity procedures are followed. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Individual is capable of ensuring animal welfare and consistently performing essential tasks as well as operating all sanitation equipment in a safe and proper manner, understanding and applying dilution and cleaning procedures as well as following biosecurity protocols.  

Individual will contribute to a productive and professional environment by setting a positive example and demonstrating enthusiasm, diligence, and ethical behavior and by taking responsibility for ones’ actions and challenging oneself to continually improve. 

  

Conditions are often hot and humid, with frequent animal contact. Duties are performed primarily on 1st shift with varying extended hours including occasional weekend work.

Must be able to be on a weekend rotation which can include minipig barrier tasks as well as APD/SPF beagle tasks. 

Work is physically demanding with a requirement to lift animals. Job duties will be performed while wearing personal protective equipment. Position requires operation of pressure washer.  

 

This position is a grade N3 with a pay range of $18.81 - $28.23/Hour.
