Reports To: Director of Surgery

Status: 80 hours per two week pay period

Shift: 8 Hours with rotating on-call
Job Schedule: Full-time

Weekly Hours: 40

Job Summary


The Certified Surgical Technologist/LPN/Surgical Technologist functions as a member of the perioperative team assisting the physician with the instrumentation, supplies and equipment needed to perform the surgical procedure. S/he works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse and assists with organization and management of departmental equipment, supplies and instrumentation.

Requirements

 

  • Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program preferred; however, motivated high school graduates or equivalent candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered for comprehensive on-the-job training.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist is desirable but not required.
  • A structured orientation and hands-on training program will be provided, with expected proficiency in the assigned clinical area within six months.
  • Cross-training opportunities are included to support professional growth and skill development.
  • Must be able to report for call within 20 minutes.

Working Conditions

  • Requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, feeling, talking, hearing and moderate (exerting/lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly) to heavy lifting (exerting/lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently or up to 20 pounds constantly) of clients and equipment.
  • Risks exposure to communicable or infectious disease.
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions (protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change) and to atmospheric conditions (one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation).
  • Failure to comply with standards of nursing care of HRMC may result in consequences to continued employment.
