Job DetailsJob Location: Hutchinson Clinic - Hutchinson, KS 67502Position Type: Full TimeJob Category: Health CareRole: Perform administrative as well as clinical tasks such as maintaining patient records, preparing patients and rooms for examination, and assisting physicians and/or providers with exams. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in the electronic medical record (EMR). Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height. Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician. Demonstrates appropriate and accurate documentation of patient encounter with their providers. Clean and package instruments for autoclaving. Dispose of contaminated supplies using universal precautions for protection against bloodborne pathogens. Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients. Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures. Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission. Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones and completing insurance forms. Develop sense of trust with patients and relatives through active listening, professionalism and being sensitive to their needs for courtesy, dignity, and privacy. Be familiar with and consistently implement the organizations mission and all approved policies, protocols, and procedures. Attend training events and maintain competency as required to perform duties. Regularly support compliance and accreditation efforts as assigned (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA). Facilitates clinic flow through effectively prioritizing work. Performance Measures: Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment. Schedule appointments for patients. Prepare and administer medications as directed by provider. Collect and log specimens then prepare them for testing. Administer routine diagnostic tests. Change dressings on wounds. Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time. QualificationsKnowledge & Skills: Experience: One year work experience as a Medical Assistant or closely related position preferred. Education: High School Education or equivalent required. CNA, CMA, or completion of a Medical Assistant program is preferred. Current BLS certification or completion within 6 months of employment is required. Other Skills: Ability to deal with the public efficiently, courteously, politely, and effectively required. Basic computer skills which enable the entry and retrieval of data including the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook required. Experience with EMR systems preferred. Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals. Physical Requirements: Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires full range of bodily motion, Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Vision and hearing to normal range.
