Job DetailsJob Location: Hutchinson Clinic - Hutchinson, KS 67502Position Type: Full TimeJob Category: Health CareRole: Performs laboratory procedures according to established and approved protocols, which require the limited exercise of independent judgement and interpretation. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Performs assigned analytical tests or procedures that require limited independent judgement. Recognizes factors that affect measurements and results and takes appropriate action according to predetermined protocols. Performs routine quality control and maintains accurate records. Recognizes out of control results and notifies supervisory personnel. Operates instruments within the scope of training utilizing established protocols and quality control checks and recognizes equipment malfunctions and notifies appropriate supervisory personnel. Communicates information such as test results, normal range, and specimen requirements to authorized sources. Performs related work as required. Performance Measures: Maintains professional and friendly atmosphere for patients and co-workers. Abides by all clinic safety policies. Maintains patient confidentiality. Approaches laboratory testing with a conscientious concern for the importance of his/her work. Is useful in all areas of the laboratory and is willing to work in any section when assigned. Keeps current in all lab sections. Is willing to help the phlebotomy staff when necessary. Observes all clinic policies and guidelines. QualificationsKnowledge & Skills: Experience: Six months to two years of similar or related experience. Education: A two year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program. Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.
