Job position summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Associate (PA) to support the Interventional Radiology team on a part-time basis. The Physician Associate will work collaboratively with interventional radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care before, during, and after minimally invasive image-guided procedures. Responsibilities include performing patient assessments, assisting with procedures, coordinating care, and managing follow-up treatment plans. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, technical proficiency, and a commitment to patient safety and compassionate care.

Physician Associate - Interventional Radiology - PT

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.

  • Conduct patient evaluations including medical history, physical examinations, and procedural assessments.

  • Assist interventional radiologists during minimally invasive procedures such as biopsies, vascular access placements, drain insertions, and other image-guided interventions.

  • Perform select procedures within scope of practice and under appropriate supervision.

  • Order, interpret, and review diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests relevant to patient care.

  • Provide pre-procedure education and counseling to patients and families.

  • Monitor patients during procedures and assist with post-procedure recovery and follow-up care.

  • Develop and implement treatment and care plans in collaboration with the interventional radiology team.

  • Prescribe medications and treatments within scope of practice and applicable regulations.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).

  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, technologists, and other members of the care team to ensure coordinated patient care.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain knowledge of evolving interventional radiology practices and technologies.

  • Adhere to all regulatory, safety, and ethical standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant (Physician Associate) program.

Required License/Certifications/Registrations

  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Kansas.

  • National certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Updated March 2026

  • Current DEA registration (if prescribing medications)

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Clinical experience in interventional radiology, radiology, surgery, emergency medicine, or a related procedural specialty.

Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations

  • Advanced procedural training or certification related to interventional or procedural medicine.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medical procedures, clinical assessment, and patient management.

  • Understanding of sterile technique and procedural safety.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to function effectively in a procedural and team-based environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple clinical priorities while maintaining high standards of care.

  • Experience assisting with or performing procedures in radiology, surgery, emergency medicine, or a related procedural specialty.

  • Familiarity with interventional radiology procedures and imaging modalities.

  • Experience working in a hospital or procedural care setting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium Work: Occasionally exerting up to 50 lbs. - constantly exerting up to 10 lbs. 26-50% of the day may be standing or walking.
