The Occupational Therapist (OTR) plays a vital role on Anderson Center for Autism’s interdisciplinary team, delivering high‑quality occupational therapy services that promote functional independence, sensory regulation, and meaningful participation in everyday activities. This position provides direct individual and group occupational therapy services in accordance with each individual’s IEP or ISP, supporting both preschool and school‑age children in onsite educational and clinical settings. The Occupational Therapist also collaborates closely with families and program staff through consultation, modeling, and training to ensure therapeutic strategies are effectively embedded into daily routines. As assigned, the role may include supervision of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and occupational therapy students, contributing to a culture of learning, collaboration, and clinical excellence.

Pay Range: $80,200.00 – $85,400.00 based on experience
Position requires travel between Staatsburg and Pine Plains locations


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts comprehensive assessments, shares findings with the interdisciplinary team, and develops individualized treatment plans informed by formal evaluations and ongoing data. Interventions are adjusted regularly based on progress monitoring and evidence-based practices.
  • Deliver individual and group OT services as outlined in IEPs and ISPs, with a focus on sensory, motor, adaptive, and functional skill development. Collaboration with related service providers is expected, including co-treatment when appropriate.
  • Provides consultation to program staff, participates in team meetings, and supports the implementation of sensory strategies, ADL programming, and behavioral supports. Coaching and modeling interventions for classroom, residential, and program staff are key components of this collaborative work.
  • Accurate and timely documentation is essential, along with maintaining all required records, using data to guide recommendations, and adhering to agency policies, safety procedures, and professional standards.
  • The position also involves ongoing professional growth through training, supervision, workshops, in-service sessions, and continued education in ASD and evidence-based occupational therapy practices.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution
  • NYS license as a Registered Occupational Therapist
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet agency crisis-intervention qualification standards (training provided)
  • Ability to assist in emergency evacuations (training provided)
  • Passion for supporting individuals with autism through a compassionate, strengths-based approach
