The Dementia Programs Coordinator will work under the direction of the Dementia Programs Supervisor. This individual will be a liaison for CICOA, Dementia Friends Indiana, and the Dementia Friendly Indianapolis initiative.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Serve as a point of contact for Dementia Friends Indiana (DFI) and the Dementia Friendly Indianapolis initiative.
  • Coordinate and deliver DFI Information Sessions within CICOA’s service area.
  • Coordinate and deliver Dementia Friendly Business Trainings within CICOA’s service area.
  • Assist in managing DFI volunteers by facilitating trainings for new volunteers and ongoing meetings and educational opportunities for established volunteers. 
  • Assist in managing Dementia Friendly Indianapolis Action Team and facilitate ongoing meetings.
  • Support new and innovative DFI program and partnership initiatives, such as Memory CafĂ©s. 
  • Assist in managing data collection, reporting, and grant provisions. 
  • Ensure quality assurance of DFI and brand fidelity with DFI Champions and community partners. 
  • Participate in dementia-related coalitions, such as the Indiana Dementia Strategic Plan and Dementia Friendly Indiana. 
  • Attend conferences, symposiums, and other continuing education opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of 2 years full time, direct service experience with the elderly or disabled which includes assessment, care plan development and monitoring. Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in social work, gerontology, counseling, psychology, or nursing; or a RN Licensure with one year experience in Human Services preferred.
