osition Summary
The CDL Class A Shop Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials, equipment, and supplies to and from job sites, vendors, and the company shop. This role also supports daily shop operations, including loading and unloading materials, maintaining organization, and assisting with various tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles requiring a CDL Class A license
- Transport materials, tools, and equipment between job sites, vendors, and the shop
- Load and unload materials, ensuring proper handling and securement
- Assist with organizing and maintaining the shop, yard, and storage areas
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and required documentation
- Support inventory management, including receiving and staging materials
- Follow all DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies
- Assist with general labor tasks and other assignments as directed
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record
- Ability to operate trucks, trailers, and material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts preferred)
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials (up to [insert weight, e.g., 75 lbs])
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, masonry, or a related field
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Basic knowledge of equipment and material handling
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting, bending, and standing
- Work performed in outdoor and shop environments in varying weather conditions
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding tasks
Additional Information
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required
- Must be flexible and willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed
