General Job Description

KEP Electric, a subsidiary of IES Residential, is currently seeking experienced Electricians in Indianapolis, Indiana and surrounding areas. If you are hard-working, dedicated, and love a challenge, this may be the opportunity you are looking for.

Position Summary

This role requires technical expertise in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential environments — including both new builds and lived-in homes. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of NEC codes, prioritizes safety, and excels in customer service. As the face of our service division, this technician will represent KEP Electric with professionalism and a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls in residential homes (occupied and unoccupied).

  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues related to panels, circuits, breakers, lighting, outlets, GFCIs, switches, and more.

  • Conduct home warranty repairs and ensure homeowner satisfaction through quality service and clear communication.

  • Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor while working in lived-in homes.

  • Accurately complete service tickets and document repairs performed, parts used, and next steps if required.

  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety standards.

  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of company vehicles, tools, and PPE.

  • Communicate effectively with service coordinators, homeowners, and field leadership.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance or customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Residential Service Electrician.

  • Demonstrated skill in electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics in residential settings.

  • Strong knowledge of NEC codes and compliance requirements.

  • Recognized for high-quality workmanship, professionalism, and safety.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.

  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.

  • Willingness to work independently and travel to various residential job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrician License (as required by state or local jurisdiction).

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.

  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, or in confined spaces.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
