Overview

Working across the globe, V2X builds smart solutions designed to integrate physical and digital infrastructure from base to battlefield. We bring 120 years of successful mission support to improve security, streamline logistics, and enhance readiness. Aligned around a shared purpose, our $3.9B company and 16,000 people work alongside our clients, here and abroad, to tackle their most complex challenges with integrity, respect, responsibility, and professionalism.

V2X is seeking a skilled Field Engineer/Technician to join our team. Field Engineers are hands on integrators of new designs in both lab and field environments. They apply FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P), IPC-WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001, and 1-1A-14 skills to build and assemble prototype systems in accordance with engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical data. Their work ensures that prototype and early production systems are assembled correctly, function safely, and are ready for use on military and civilian platforms.

Field Engineers fabricate, modify, and integrate electrical, mechanical, and electro mechanical assemblies. They perform functional checks, troubleshooting, and rework to resolve integration issues and confirm that systems meet engineering intent.

Field Engineers work closely with design engineers, test engineers, production support, and customers. They provide detailed feedback on design errors, integration issues, safety concerns, and installation challenges observed in the lab and field. Their recommendations drive design changes, capture lessons learned, and improve manufacturability, installation efficiency, maintainability, and overall producibility of prototype solutions.

Responsibilities

Across the development and fielding lifecycle, Field Engineers, under minimal supervision, could perform the following tasks:

  • Build mechanical and electrical prototype assemblies in a lab environment.
  • Install, integrate, and troubleshoot prototype hardware into existing or new systems in a lab or at operational locations.
  • Remove and install components, route and terminate wiring, and perform mechanical mounting and structural modifications.
  • Perform modifications on printed circuit boards, cable assemblies, and test boxes in a lab environment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair aircraft systems to meet safety and performance standards.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
  • Verify and validate design documentation against real world installations.
  • Conduct or support system level testing, including functional checks and configuration verification.
  • Support customer audits and inspections, ensuring work is documented, traceable, and compliant with applicable standards and airworthiness requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Ability to travel (domestic and internationally), sometimes with short notice. Travel is less than 25%.
  • Ability to work in non-environmentally controlled areas

Qualifications

Education / Certifications:

  • Associate degree in Aviation Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Aeronautical Engineering Technology or other STEM degree. Equivalent experience may be substituted for education, prefer at least 4 years of relevant experience working maintenance/upgrade on commercial or military aircraft.
  • Preferred FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
  • Preferred IPC-620 trained

Experience / Skills:

  • Good Communication skills, oral and written.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting aerospace wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Skilled in soldering, electrical wire harness fabrication, and connector installation.
  • Ability to use multimeters, oscilloscopes, and specialized aircraft diagnostic equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and avionics systems and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of aircraft materials, fasteners, and structural components.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments, torque wrenches, and crimping tools.
  • Experience with software configuration and system integration testing.
  • US Citizenship required.
