Job Summary

Responsible for supervising a group of inside sales representatives, providing training, coaching, and mentoring to develop associates on sales processes. Responsible to profitably grow inside sales to achieve sales growth goals. Serve as a sales consultant through the development of relationships based on customer solutions for current core industries and emerging industries and markets. Responsible for prospecting for new accounts, retaining existing accounts, and increasing opportunities with existing customers.

 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Trains sales associates in effective selling processes and techniques and assists associates with problem resolution. Provides sales process leadership, skill coaching, and key opportunity assessment.
  • Ensures associates use time effectively to increase sales. Follows-up and reinforces sales techniques utilizing consultative and solution selling methods.
  • Coordinates sales by establishing territories and goals. Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, discount rates, etc.
  • Oversees inside sales operations and procedures to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Reports on sales metrics and suggest improvements. Monitors activities of team members to ensure day-to-day responsibilities are met, including reports, daily call plans, etc., are completed correctly and on time.
  • Serves as liaison between sales department and other related departments. Develops and sustains sales relationships with key decision makers and influencers
  • Coordinates and executes department projects to meet deadlines. Ensures sales, finance, and legal policies and procedures are followed

Nature and Scope

  • Experience provides solutions.
  • Ensures that work is performed consistently with company policies and procedures.
  • Leads a group or team of support, craft, or lower level professional associates.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

3–5 years of inside sales or customer service experience

1–3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred

Experience with:

  • Lead generation
  • Account management
  • Quoting and order processing
  • ERP systems
  • Sales reporting and forecasting
