Job Title: Master Scheduler/Inventory Control

Location: 1351 S Girls School Rd, Indianapolis

Reports To: Operations Manager

Job Type: Full Time- Salary

Work Arrangement: On Site


Position Summary:
 The Master Scheduler / Inventory Control position is a strategic planning and operations role that integrates production scheduling with inventory management to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and customer-focused operations. This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills to align production plans with demand forecasts, material availability, and inventory targets. 


Key Responsibilities:

 

Master Scheduling Duties:


  • Develop, maintain, and communicate a valid Master Production Schedule (MPS) aligned with business plans, sales forecasts, and customer orders. 
  • Translate demand plans into granular, executable production schedules, considering manufacturing constraints, lead times, and capacity. 
  • Perform “what-if” analyses and scenario planning to anticipate disruptions and optimize schedules. 
  • Lead weekly scheduling meetings with Sales, Marketing, Production, and Procurement to resolve conflicts and track performance. 
  • Participate in monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), providing data and recommendations on capacity, production, and inventory health. 
  • Monitor and optimize inventory levels for finished goods and work-in-progress (WIP) to meet service targets while minimizing carrying costs. 
  • Analyze plant capacity (labor, machinery, tooling) to identify bottlenecks and recommend mitigation strategies. 
  • Use advanced scheduling software to create and maintain accurate production schedules. 
  • Forecast and manage budgets for production scheduling. 




Inventory Control Duties:


  • Monitor material inventories, track production progress, and identify factors affecting schedules. 
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure data integrity in ERP systems. 
  • Control planning data, lead times, order quantities, and reorder points (ROP). 
  • Collaborate with supply chain and procurement to ensure material availability. 
  • Implement process improvements to enhance scheduling and inventory efficiency. 
  • Communicate inventory status and potential impacts on production to management and stakeholders.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

 

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, or related field 
  • Certifications such as APICS, CPIM, CSCP, PMP, or CPM are preferred. 


Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, WISE, Cincom) and scheduling software 
  • Experience with workforce management, capacity planning, and inventory control.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to coordinate cross-functional teams 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.


Experience:

  • Minimum 5–10 years in supply chain, master scheduling, or inventory control roles. 
  • Proven track record in optimizing production schedules and reducing inventory costs.
