About the RoleÂ
We are seeking a hands-on Model Maker to support HVAC engineering development through the fabrication, modification, and testing of prototype equipment. This position plays a critical role in bringing new product designs to life by building and refining prototype HVAC units in collaboration with engineering teams.Â
This role is 100% onsite in Indianapolis, IN
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
Fabricate HVAC prototypes, tooling, and test fixtures to support engineering development projectsÂ
Read and interpret work orders, engineering drawings, and technical documentationÂ
Perform fabrication processes including:Â Â
Brazing (copper and aluminum)Â
WeldingÂ
Bending and stampingÂ
General sheet metal fabricationÂ
Modify HVAC units based on engineering direction and specificationsÂ
Charge and discharge refrigerant from HVAC systemsÂ
Install instrumentation components such as thermocouples, pressure taps, and sensorsÂ
Program and operate automated equipment including: Â
3D printersÂ
Water jet cuttersÂ
Brake pressesÂ
Collaborate with engineers to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and complete buildsÂ
Maintain a safe and organized work environment in compliance with EH&S policiesÂ
Â
Minimum QualificationsÂ
High School Diploma or GEDÂ
Minimum of 2 years of experience in one of the following Â
HVAC TechnologyÂ
Mechanical Engineering TechnologyÂ
Industrial MaintenanceÂ
Building Automation / ControlsÂ
Electrical or Electromechanical TechnologyÂ
Â
Preferred QualificationsÂ
EPA CertificationÂ
Working knowledge of residential HVAC systems (air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, gas furnaces)Â
Experience fabricating sheet metal componentsÂ
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawingsÂ
Experience brazing similar and dissimilar materials (copper and aluminum)Â
Experience with machine shop and fabrication equipment (press brake, shear, punch, welder, band saw, etc.)Â
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook; comfortable with digital communication toolsÂ
Experience with or ability to learn CAD/CAM softwareÂ
Electrical aptitude, including ability to read wiring diagrams and use testing tools (e.g., volt/ohm meter)Â
Experience with:Â Â
Industrial 3D printingÂ
CNC or automated fabrication equipment (water jet, turret press, tube bending, etc.)Â
Conventional and/or CNC machiningÂ

Ability to lift and move up to 35 lbs without assistanceÂ
Ability to work first shift (Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week)Â

Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $53,000.00 - $106,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.Other Compensation
