Role Summary

The Operations Manager plays a key role in ensuring projects transition smoothly from contract award through field execution. Working closely with Operations, Estimating, Project Management, and Field Supervisors, this individual is responsible for preparing projects for successful execution by maintaining accurate work orders, supporting project scheduling, developing phasing plans, and ensuring field documentation is complete and timely.

This position is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with a construction background who enjoys coordinating multiple priorities, improving operational processes, and helping maximize field productivity. The Operations Administrator serves as a central point of coordination to ensure crews have the information, schedules, and resources needed to execute projects efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the operational handoff of projects from award through field execution.
  • Review and update project work orders to ensure all job information is complete, accurate, and ready for production.
  • Create and maintain project phasing maps and work plans that allow field crews to execute projects efficiently and safely.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining production schedules while helping optimize crew utilization across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Estimating, Sales, and Field Supervisors to prioritize work and adjust schedules as project conditions change.
  • Monitor project readiness by confirming required documentation, materials, permits, and other prerequisites are in place before work begins.
  • Review project performance throughout execution and identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy, scheduling efficiency, production methods, and overall job profitability.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation within company software systems and ensure operational records remain current.
  • Perform additional administrative and operational support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in construction operations, project coordination, scheduling, or a related role.
  • Preferred experience working in a commercial construction, heavy civil, paving, utilities, or similar construction environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with office personnel and field operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience using construction software.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
