SCOPE

The Parts Clerk compiles information and records to draw up purchase orders for procurement of materials and services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes safety and conducts him/herself in accordance with all safety guidelines at all times.
  • Prepares purchase orders and sends copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.
  • Determines if inventory quantities are sufficient for needs, ordering more materials when necessary.
  • Responds to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
  • Performs buying duties when necessary.
  • Contacts suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
  • Reviews requisition orders in order to verify accuracy, terminology, and specifications.
  • Prepares, maintains, and reviews purchasing files, reports and price lists.
  • Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates in order to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
  • Tracks the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders.
  • Calculates costs of orders, and charges or forwards invoices to appropriate accounts.
  • Maintains inventory for all parts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Must possess visual acuity to document company records
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2 years industry experience (preferred)
  • Mechanical knowledge or repair experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions in English
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills
  • Ability to work extended hours while standing
  • Good job performance and attendance records
