We are seeking a Staff Pharmacist who is passionate about patient-centered care and eager to make a meaningful impact in a mission-driven healthcare environment.

 

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and in close partnership with pharmacy and clinic staff, the Staff Pharmacist supports the delivery of a fully compliant, patient-centered retail pharmacy service. This role contributes directly to improving patient wellness, chronic disease management, and medication access through high-quality pharmaceutical care and excellent customer service.

The Staff Pharmacist demonstrates behaviors consistent with professional standards of practice and aligns with the mission, values, and goals of JPCHC.

 

Job Responsibilities

Patient Care & Pharmacy Operations

  • Provide patient-centered pharmacy services with a focus on safety, accuracy, and education.
  • Accurately interpret prescriptions and enter data into the pharmacy dispensing system.
  • Perform pharmacist verification to ensure the correct patient receives the correct medication.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records in the dispensing system.
  • Provide medication to patients or caregivers after verification of at least two patient identifiers and collection of copayments.
  • Assist patients and clinic staff in understanding the most appropriate medication access options, including standard prescriptions, 340B, PAP, samples, and other programs.

Prescription Processing & Inventory

  • Complete prescription production processes, including NDC verification, counting, bottling, labeling, and reconstitution using Fillmaster.
  • Submit insurance claims and resolve rejected claims.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, including receiving inventory from wholesalers and completing cycle counts.
  • Retain and manage required pharmacy documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Team Support & Quality

  • Provide coaching and support to pharmacy technician staff and report concerns to the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized pharmacy and waiting area.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and workflow optimization.
  • Uphold all state and federal pharmacy regulations, HIPAA requirements, and organizational policies.

 

Qualifications
 

Education & Experience

  • Experience in ambulatory, community, or retail pharmacy required.
  • Experience in an FQHC setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with the 340B pharmacy program strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or quality improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships effectively.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Active Indiana Pharmacist License in good standing (required).
  • American Pharmacists Association Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate (required or must obtain).
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
