Maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. Compiles financial data to aid the senior accountant in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Create and send monthly invoicing to various customers including, but not limited to:
- CHOICE Cost Share customers
- External grantors
- Other non-government funded customers (e.g. Indy Hunger Network)
- Determine and record journal entries for receipts on Medicaid Waiver claims.
- Maintain tracking of collections (and collected/uncollectable %) for Medicaid Waiver claims.
- Post accounts receivables into accounting system.
- Book deposits into the accounting system.
- Book cash transfers and journal entries in accounting system between departments and entities.
- Assist with entry into CaMSS (or other pertinent online state reporting system) of external provider claim invoices, as requested (e.g. CHOICE providers, Title III providers).
- Assist with Older Americans Act Performance System (OAAPS) periodic reporting for the state, as requested.
- Prepare and enter various journal entries for month-end processing.
- Provide other assistance to month-end close processes, as requested.
- Design new procedures and methods to maintain and improve departmental productivity and add value.
- Serve as primary backup to Sr. Accountant in publishing financial statements for the Finance Committee’s review and recommendations, preparing general ledger entries, maintaining chart of accounts, preparing and maintain cost allocation management system and preparing post accrual entries as needed.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance or related field; one to two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
