Transfer Operator – Day Shift

Location: Indianapolis, IN
Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift | Every Other Weekend

Road & Rail Services is hiring a dependable, safety-focused Transfer Operator for our growing Indianapolis operation. This hands-on position is responsible for safely transferring hazardous and non-hazardous bulk materials between railcars and tank trucks.

The work is performed primarily outdoors and requires close attention to safety procedures, equipment operation, and environmental standards. If you are comfortable with physical work, changing weather conditions, and following detailed processes, this could be a strong opportunity to build a stable career.

What You'll Do

As a Transfer Operator, you will:

Transfer bulk materials between railcars and tank trucks

Connect and operate pumps, hoses, valves, and related transfer equipment

Heat, sparge, sample, and prepare products for transfer

Inspect railcars, trucks, hoses, fittings, and equipment before use

Climb railcars and work safely at elevated heights

Wear required PPE, including full hazmat protection when necessary

Monitor transfers and respond appropriately to leaks, spills, or equipment concerns

Complete required transfer documentation accurately

Assist with routine yard, equipment, and building maintenance

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Follow all company, customer, environmental, and regulatory safety procedures

What We're Looking For

Qualified candidates should have:

A valid driver's license

The ability to lift up to 60 pounds

The ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights

Willingness to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions

Availability to work every other weekend

Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written procedures

A dependable work history and a safety-first mindset

The ability to work independently and as part of a team

Previous experience in transloading, chemical handling, industrial operations, rail operations, manufacturing, or material transfer is helpful but not required.
