The College of Communication is seeking students who are service-oriented, well organized and detail-oriented to facilitate equipment checkout reservations. Student Equipment Checkout Assistant will report to the CCOM Technical Services Coordinator and be responsible for all checkout functions scheduled during their shift. 

Work Schedule 

2-6 hours/week between the hours of 12PM and 8PM Monday through Friday. Schedule will be set each semester based upon availability of all students in the position. Flexibility for trading shifts with co-workers as needed. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Check and prepare reserved equipment before it is picked up
  • Provide customer service to student and faculty users of the checkout system
  • Scan equipment in and out of the Connect2 reservations site
  • Check equipment when it is returned for loss or damage
  • Manage asset availability in Connect2 
  • Maintain assigned equipment through inventory and checking for damage or loss
  • Communicate with co-workers and Technical Services Coordinator about any known issues with equipment or scheduling 

Required Qualifications

  • Student must be an undergraduate of Butler University. 
  • Student must have solid verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Student must be detail and task oriented and able to follow established procedures which they will be trained on. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with still or video cameras and audio equipment is preferred
  • Communicate openly with other checkout staff verbally and via email and Teams
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision once trained
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on occasion

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance. 
  • Comply with University standards and policies. 
  • Ensure confidentiality of information.
  • Willingness to cover other worker's shifts as needed due to illness or other absences
