The Payroll Analyst is a key role within the JD North America People Regional Business Services model. The Regional Business Services function holds the responsibility for support to all US businesses within the JD Group, including JD Sports, Finish Line, Finish Line Macy’s, Shoe Palace, Nice Kicks, Downtown Locker Room (DTLR), and Hibbett. This position processes bi-weekly and weekly payroll for Corporate, Store, Customer Care and Distribution Center employees, ensuring payroll is accurate and completed in a timely manner. Key responsibilities include: 

  • Completes all Workday specific payroll processing steps through settlement and funding with ADP.

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for all employee populations supporting payroll questions and inquiries. 

  • Respond to employee inquiries about pay related issues with utmost urgency, exhibiting a patient, service oriented, employee experience based mindset. 

  • Communicates via email, phone and ticketing system in a clear manner to most efficiently resolve issues. 

  • Process payroll input integrations.

  • Troubleshoots issues that arise during payroll processing.

  • Process off-cycle payments.

  • Achieves individual and team KPIs/SLAs as defined by Payroll leadership

  • Work closely with People Business Partners and business leadership to process immediate pay in required states (ie final pay). 

  • Process ad hoc/one time payments like severances, contest bonuses, etc.  

  • Supports data preparation for audits, reporting, or other internal needs. 

  • Resolves direct deposit rejects. 

  • Supports programs & executes tasks related to Daily Pay, Pay Card management, and ADP wage payments

  • Partner with Manager and other team members to complete reconciliations

  • Have a working knowledge of benefit plans, policies and procedures that tie to pay; works cross-functionally with compensation and other teams that also play a role in employee pay. 

  • Additional duties and projects as required

Required Education and/or Experience

At least 2 - 4 years of experience in multi-state payroll processing preferably in retail; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in customer service roles and high volume payroll environments is a plus. Workday experience is a plus. 

Required Computer and/or Technical Skills

Should have basic to intermediate knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Suite and Google Suite. Have strong knowledge of payroll processing and experience/abilities with Payroll systems & providers, HCM systems, and ticketing systems.
