Summary

CHS, Inc. has an exciting opportunity in our Ag Business division. We are looking for an Associate Commodity Trader to support our Southern Minnesota Region. The ideal candidate will be able to work with a diverse group of people and build effective long-lasting relationships, as well as be able to make decisions, work independently, and be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and have proven leadership capability.

This role is located at our corporate headquarters in Inver Grove Heights, MN.

Responsibilities

  • Form and execute strategies for positioning, buying and selling of grain within the Southern Minnesota Region.
  • Work with producers and country elevators updating them on market trends, current grain quotes, grain programs, and purchasing grain.
  • Work with the AI and Data Engineering teams to refine an Artificial Intelligence model in it’s ability to find market opportunities and gaps in the trading position.
  • Report and enter all contracts quickly and accurately.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by being the first point of contact with the consumer/user and in some cases utilizing divisional marketing resources. 
  • Maintain existing customer base and identify, develop and build new opportunities. 
  • Manage supply chains in the assigned region.
  • Perform market analysis and formulation of corresponding commodity position strategy.
  • Understand available trucking and rail operations, including their rates and limits. Communicate with the Transportation function in Supply Chain to generate market competitive freight bids.
  • Understand the importance and impact of timely logistics to customer’s business; work with Transportation to perform best-in-class execution of freight.
  • Execute our logistics strategy aligned with Transportation around the physical movement of goods.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Commodities
  • Knowledge of Trading

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or related field
  • Understanding of commodity markets and trading principles 
  • Experience in Python, R, or other statistical modeling
  • Ability to adapt to fast changing environment 
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
