Summary

Lead Energy Equipment Sales Strategy at CHS!

 

CHS is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director, Sales Energy Equipment to lead our Energy Equipment go-to-market sales organization. In this role, you will oversee, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team while driving execution of key sales strategies, programs, and marketing initiatives across the Energy Equipment portfolio.

 

You will play a critical role in shaping sales strategy, managing P&L performance, strengthening vendor partnerships, and collaborating across Energy business units to grow share of wallet and deliver value to our cooperative customers. This position requires a strong commercial mindset, proven leadership experience, and the ability to align people, processes, and technology to achieve business results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and manage the Energy Equipment go-to-market sales team, including performance management, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Set and execute Energy Equipment sales strategies in partnership with product line leaders and other Energy sales leaders to meet customer expectations and business goals.
  • Own Energy Equipment P&L, including budgeting, sales incentive plans, pricing strategy, margin structure, and financial performance.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, FSS, and Accounting to improve financial visibility, reporting, and performance metrics.
  • Develop and manage marketing programs to promote Energy Equipment offerings and support growth initiatives.
  • Maintain and plan for capital assets, including warehouses and portable storage, aligned with business needs.
  • Build and leverage strategic vendor relationships in collaboration with Strategic Sourcing; represent CHS and vendor partners at trade shows and customer events.
  • Partner with IT on system enhancements and integrations, including support for Shopify, JDE, and EDI platforms.
  • Work cross-functionally with Energy marketing, product leaders, and strategic account teams to maximize share of wallet with strategic, key, and core customers.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture by following all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High school diploma and/or GED
  • 7+ years of sales experience in a technical or complex sales environment
  • Prior leadership experience with progressively increasing responsibility leading sales teams
  • Ability to travel approximately 25–50%

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field
  • Experience in propane, refined fuels, lubricants, or energy-related equipment sales
  • Sales engineering experience
  • Strong strategic planning, execution, and change management capabilities
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions and influence at senior levels
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and lead high-performing teams
  • Experience managing budgets and/or P&L responsibility
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
