Summary

CHS Inc has an exciting opportunity within our Finance group. We seek an experienced, detail-oriented payroll manager to join our team.

As a payroll manager, you will oversee all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely payments of employees at our organization. You will also collaborate with various internal departments and our external payroll administration partner to gather and validate payroll information, resolve payroll discrepancies and provide exceptional service to our employees.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Payroll team, ensuring timely and accurate execution of payroll processes.
  • Provide coaching, training, and professional development to team members, with a focus on business continuity and career growth.
  • Serve as a key advisor to internal stakeholders on payroll matters, issue resolution, and upcoming changes.
  • Use analytics and reporting to identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to enhance payroll operations.
  • Collaborate with HR, IT, and Finance to consult on payroll system enhancements and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee execution of payroll responsibilities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Own customer service communications related to payroll, including onboarding, training, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Manage payroll system implementation and hyper-care support, including Dayforce and other future enhancements.
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in all payroll-related data and communications.
  • Maintain full supervisory responsibility, including hiring, performance management, and team development.
  • Develop, implement, manage, and review payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with third party payroll related vendors to drive improvements and efficiencies in process and system use, provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Manage Payroll related communications from the Finance department to local payroll coordinators, cross-functional departments, and operating companies.
  • Lead and provide support to business stakeholders to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Advise senior Finance management on Payroll matters and on the potential impact of laws and regulations on the operation of the organization.
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop Payroll team to ensure Payroll activities are conducted accurately, ethically, consistently and according to relevant regulations, laws, and standards.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 4+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, and/or Payroll
  • Prior leadership experience with progressively advancing level of leadership responsibilities

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Business, Business Administration or related field
  • Experience with payroll systems, preferably DayForce, while managing external parties in a partially managed relationship
  • International payroll experience
  • Certified Payroll Professional
  • Project management experience (ie: implementing payroll system as well as hyper-care of the implementation) Progressive experience in Payroll and with automated Payroll systems
  • Seasoned change management skills
  • High level interpersonal skills; seasoned motivator, influencer in challenging situations

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
