Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Enterprise Rail Transportation team. We are looking for a Senior Logistics Specialist to complete our team. You must be customer focused with excellent communication skills, project management, and change management skills.  Success comes from the ability to build relationships, solve complex problems in real-time and drive efficiencies through expertise.   

 

This is a hybrid position based at our Inver Grove Heights, MN corporate office. The successful candidate will be required to work on-site at least three days per week. Relocation assistance is not available, and remote applicants will not be considered. 

Responsibilities

  • Partner with both internal stakeholders (trade, S&OP, finance, plant management) and railroad partners to meet the rail capacity planning demands of the business
  • Optimize the pipeline for the private fleet to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Handle network escalations and resolve issues promptly to maintain smooth operations.
  • Proactively monitor, analyze, and deduce recommendations on industry trends to mitigate risk to the business.
  • Benchmarking fleet performance/KPI’s and developing best practice to industry standards.
  • Manage data and utilize PowerBI for data analysis and reporting to support decision-making.
  • Implement and manage rail technology enhancements to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee demurrage management to minimize costs and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate with rail asset management to ensure compliance with railcar maintenance and regulatory compliance requirements and to collaborate on fleet sizing decisions
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Transportation and Logistics

Additional Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing private rail fleets, including optimizing fleet utilization and reducing operational costs

    Bachelor’s degree  

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, SAP, and Rail technology 

    Excellent communication (verbal and written) and time management skills. 

    Demonstrated coordination and organizational abilities 

Physical Requirements

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
