The Clinical/Technical Specialist supports the Department of Neurology Benton Neuropsychology Clinic by administering neuropsychological tests on patients under the supervision of a staff neuropsychologist. The Clinical/Technical Specialist is responsible for organizing and scoring the information and preparing a summary of the test results. This position also manages data transfer and maintains patient electronic files, using standard psychological protocols and procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

聽. Assists with assessment of patients using clinical neuropsychological tests of cognition and behavior.

路 Assists with acquisition and organization of data regarding the cognitive and behavioral function of brain-injured persons.

路 Provides a specialized level of clinical/technical service for patients with other team members.

路 Maintains and updates equipment and supplies used in providing specialty care or services.

路 Communicates detailed patient information with other members of our team.

路 Uses strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and provide a comfortable testing environment.

路 Collaborates with others on the health care team related to clinical/technical specifications to assure safe and effective delivery of care.

路 Follows, applies policies, and performs documentation requirements.

路 Participates in Quality Assurance.

路 Reports variances and works to address them.

路 Provides training to new clinical staff, practicum students, and incoming post-doctoral fellows working and training in our clinic.

路 Models standardized Neuropsychological exams when residents, graduate students, and other people observe our clinic.

路 Administers and scores neuropsychological tests under the supervision of staff neuropsychologists.

路 Prepares summaries of test results.

路 Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of basic statistics and test standardization.

路 Obtains library reprints and articles, maintaining reference files as needed.

路 Performs coding and transfer of information into computerized database.

路 Manages and scans in all clinic files into database.

路 Organizes patient charts, maintains patient log, collects, and summarizes test results, and maintains patient data files, using standard psychological protocols and procedures.

路 Determines appropriate billing level and processes patient charges.

路 Maintains inventory of neuropsychological test forms, booklets, and other supplies; orders supplies as needed or requested; restocks examination rooms on a regular basis.

路 Triages consults to help our clinic run effectively.

路 Prepares raw data and summary of test scores for outside doctors.

路 Assists with research projects when available and as needed by providers, graduate students, and special requests.

路 Demonstrates respect for all members of the University community in the course of performing one鈥檚 duties and in response to administrators, supervisors, coworkers, and patients and their family members.

Schedule: Five (5) 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, during clinic hours between 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM. No weekends, no holidays.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or other health sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience Requirements:

路 Ability to apply knowledge in relationships with brain-injured persons

路 Excellent written and verbal communication skills

路 Must be proficient in computer software applications

Desired Qualifications:

路 Experience with neuropsychological and neurological data

路 Previous experience working with elderly medical patients

路 Some knowledge of University policies, procedures and regulations

路 Bilingual in Spanish or proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish
