UI Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking an 50%25 Staff Nurse to work in the Oral Surgery Clinic.聽聽

Position Summary:聽

  • Assess patients' nursing care needs, evaluate effectiveness of care provided, and integrate nursing theory and research into clinical practice.聽 Provide leadership to members of the nursing team in order to maintain patient care standards.

Duties to include:

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Incorporates scientific, behavioral and humanistic principles for application to clinical practice.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Utilizes, adheres and supports departmental standards and practice guidelines.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses.Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.Follows universal precautions.

Percent of Time: 50%25 (20 hours per week)
Salary: $61,183聽minimum at 100%25 effort to commensurate. Salary will be based on years of experience and percent effort
Procedural Differentials: Up to $5,000 per year
Schedule: 0800-1700 with 1-hr lunch. 2 x days 1st week, 3 x days 2nd week. No shift rotation, no weekends, no holidays, no call

Education

  • An Associate鈥檚 Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master鈥檚 Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required

Required Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.

  • General computer skills are required.

  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire

Desired Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired.

  • If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
