Position Summary
The Housekeeping Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment throughout the facility. This position helps promote resident safety, comfort, and well-being by ensuring resident rooms, common areas, and workspaces are clean, organized, and maintained in accordance with infection prevention, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, common areas, offices, and other facility spaces.Â
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment that promotes resident health and dignity.Â
- Follow all infection prevention, safety, and sanitation procedures in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.Â
- Report maintenance concerns, equipment issues, or safety hazards to the appropriate department.Â
- Assist with laundry services and linen distribution as needed.Â
- Operate housekeeping equipment safely and maintain cleaning supplies and equipment.Â
- Respond promptly to spills and other environmental needs to maintain a safe environment.Â
- Work collaboratively with nursing, maintenance, dietary, and other departments to support resident care.Â
- Provide courteous, respectful service to residents, families, visitors, and fellow team members.Â
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all resident interactions.Â

Requirements

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Â
- Ability to follow infection prevention, safety, and sanitation procedures.Â
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Â
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.Â
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.Â
- Dependable, compassionate, and committed to providing a clean, safe environment for residents.Â
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, repetitive gripping, and assisting with cleaning tasks throughout the workday.Â
Preferred Experience
- Previous housekeeping, environmental services, janitorial, hospitality, hotel, or healthcare cleaning experience.Â
- Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, hospital, or assisted living settings.Â
- Knowledge of infection prevention, sanitation practices, and cleaning procedures.Â
- Experience operating commercial housekeeping equipment.Â
