Job Description

Maintenance & Reliability Intern

Location:  Bismarck, MO  

Position Summary 

The Maintenance & Reliability Intern will support equipment installation, maintenance, reliability, and plant commissioning activities during the startup of a roofing granule manufacturing plant. This role provides experience in preventative maintenance and industry reliability practices, networking opportunities, and hands-on experience with equipment installation, inspection, and troubleshooting in a heavy industrial environment. The right candidate will adhere to all prescribed safety standards and practices. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support maintenance and engineering teams during plant startup and commissioning 

  • Observe and assist with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical startup issues 

  • Assist the build-out of the maintenance program to include preventative maintenance (PM) activities, standard operating procedures, and maintenance documentation 

  • Help verify readiness of crushers, conveyors, screens, dryers, elevators, PLCs, electric motors, dust collectors, compressors, oilers, vibrating feeders, screw feeders, blowers, mixers, knockers, kilns, and other industrial equipment 

  • Generate and present reports to maintenance team leadership 

  • Perform equipment inspections 

  • Handle vendor communications and coordination 

  • Participate in lockout/tagout (LOTO) and safety procedures 

  • Help organize tools, spare parts, and maintenance records 

  • Establish and support housekeeping and reliability best practices

Qualifications

  • Interest in industrial maintenance and manufacturing startup environments 

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn 

  • Ability to receive and give constructive feedback 

  • Ability to follow safety rules and instructions 

  • Comfortable working in an office and hands-on plant setting 

 

Work Environment 

Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and heat. Required use of PPE including safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots. Position involves standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working around operating equipment. 

Internship Details 

  • Duration: 3 months+ 

  • Schedule:  Open to Full time or Part time  

  • Normal Scheduled Hours: Day Shift 7 am to 3:30 pm (Flexible)
