Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary of $89,400.00 - $134,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

We're seeking a Senior Decision Scientist to join our Decision Science and Data Engineering (DSDE) team supporting analytics across Cox Automotive's Retail business. This role focuses on independently building and deploying production-grade AI machine learning solutions that drive business decisions for Retail analytics teams.

You'll work directly with stakeholders to understand business requirements, develop and execute data models using advanced ML algorithms, and translate technical work into actionable insights. This position requires end-to-end ownership from problem formulation through production deployment, collaborating with data engineers on scalable solutions and leveraging GenAI/LLM technologies to accelerate development.

What You'll Do

  • Own ML projects end-to-end: problem definition, development, deployment, and maintenance
  • Design and deploy production-ready models with monitoring and automated retraining
  • Collaborate with data engineers on scalable pipelines and leverage GenAI/LLM tools to accelerate development
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders across analytics teams
  • Research emerging methodologies and contribute to team AI practices

WHO YOU ARE

Required Qualifications

  • Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship. No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future
  • Bachelor's Degree with 2+ years as a Data Scientist OR Master's Degree with 1+ years OR PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, or related quantitative field
  • 2+ years professional experience as a Data Scientist
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying production ML models that deliver measurable impact
  • Hands-on experience with supervised/unsupervised learning and GenAI/LLM solutions
  • Advanced Python and expert-level Snowflake SQL
  • Proficiency with Git/GitHub for version control and collaboration
  • Strong communication skills - translating technical work to business value
  • Experience working closely with Data Engineering teams or strong understanding of data engineering and data pipelining
  • Ideal candidate lives within a commutable distance to either Atlanta GA or Irvine CA office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Dataiku or Google Vertex AI experience
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure/GCP)
  • Modern data stack tools (dbt, Airflow, Databricks)
  • Automotive or dealer analytics background Contributions to open-source projects or technical publications
