Starting Payrate: $25hr.  Based on our Irvine, CA office location. (West Yost uses geographic salary differentials that would apply for candidates in other regions).

Cross Connection Specialist (Recycled Water) 

Under immediate supervision, performs field inspection, cross-connection testing, site surveys of work related to water and recycled water systems for compliance with approved plans, specifications, Client rules and regulations. Work may at times be conducted outside of typical business hours (night, weekend) depending on customer needs. 

Key Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Coordinates projects with the Client, Contractor, and Project Manager.
  • Advises the contractor regarding work or materials that deviate from plans and specifications; and, reports discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Maintains records of inspections activities performed including red-line drawings.
  • Prepares daily and periodic typed reports.
  • Perform required cross-connection shutdown tests.  Reports testing results to Client and Project Manager.
  • Operates West Yost vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Conducts pre-construction meetings.
  • Plan checks and inspects developer construction projects.
  • Recommends substantial completion acceptance and final acceptance of projects as appropriate.
  • Performs inspection, cross connection control testing, and site certification of new and current recycled water users.  
  • May assist in inspecting all sizes and types of water, wastewater, recycled water facilities, and pipeline construction projects.
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct recycled water site survey for conversion projects.

Marginal Functions:

  • Attends and participates in professional group meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • A valid Cross-Connection Control Specialist Certificate issued by the American Water Works Association within three months of hire date.
