The Role

The Executive Director, Imaging Services, serves as the division's key administrative leader, overseeing imaging services and integrating acute and ambulatory operations to support Providence patients across the continuum of care. This position partners with system and division leaders to drive performance improvement initiatives and advance strategic priorities.

In partnership with the System Imaging Leader, the Executive Director provides strategic, financial, and operational oversight for imaging services across the division, including multiple service areas and hospitals. Key priorities include executing divisional and system goals that advance Clinical Shared Services strategy and imaging service initiatives.

This role requires sound judgment in complex political, regulatory, and economic environments while maintaining alignment with organizational strategy. The Executive Director leads the development and management of an integrated matrix business model and business plans that support divisional and system priorities.

The position also requires strong financial and operational leadership, effective relationship-building with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality, affordable, and effective imaging services.

What You’ll Do

Leadership & Team Development

  • Leads, manages, develops, and retains a high-performing team while actively supporting and incorporating the Mission and core values into daily activities.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, employees, and, as appropriate, other organizational information.

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for Providence imaging services across acute care hospitals, outpatient imaging centers, and affiliated sites.
  • Leads the development and execution of service line strategies that advance access, growth, patient experience, quality, and operational excellence.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Directs multidisciplinary imaging teams and support staff, fostering accountability, collaboration, and high performance.

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Partners with physician, clinical, nursing, and executive leaders to align imaging operations with organizational priorities and ministry goals.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Oversees staffing, labor management, and human resource planning to ensure efficient, effective, and sustainable operations.
  • Manages fiscal and material resources, including budgeting, capital planning, productivity, and stewardship of departmental assets.

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Designs, implements, and monitors operational plans, performance metrics, and improvement initiatives across imaging modalities and sites.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensures safe, reliable, patient-centered imaging services that reflect Providence's Mission, values, and commitment to compassionate care.
  • Develops and maintains standards for quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and service excellence across all imaging operations.
  • Drives performance improvement efforts that optimize throughput, scheduling, access, patient satisfaction, and care delivery outcomes.

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Supports the development and implementation of new programs, services, technologies, and policies to meet strategic and community needs.
  • Collaborates in long-range planning for facility, equipment, and service expansion to support current and future imaging demands.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Monitors financial, productivity, access, and quality indicators, using data to guide decisions and improve performance.

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Promotes integration and standardization of imaging practices, workflows, and service delivery across Providence divisions.
  • Serves as a key operational leader and advisor on imaging services, translating organizational strategy into measurable results.
  • Participates in imaging councils, executive committees, technical, and other project workgroups.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Develops individual objectives consistent with the Providence Health System's Management System and measures and reports on individual objectives quarterly.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Meets regularly with Medical Directors to review and evaluate departmental operations, relationships with the medical staff, and coordination of departmental services with various hospital programs and departments to ensure the departmental environment is conducive to the safe and high-quality practice of Diagnostic Imaging.

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Travels, as required, between Providence facilities to evaluate opportunities to standardize and improve services.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintains current working knowledge and awareness of future changes to rules, regulations, and compliance requirements related to Diagnostic Imaging operations for The Joint Commission (TJC), the American College of Radiology (ACR), and applicable state and regulatory bodies.

What You’ll Bring

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Master's Degree in Business or Healthcare-related field (preferred).
  • Graduate of an ACR Certified Radiologic Technology Training Program (preferred).

Experience & Expertise

  • Twelve (12) years of job-related experience.
  • Ten (10) or more years of progressive leadership and management experience.
  • Experience with operational improvement, throughput optimization, and Lean methodologies.
  • Experience managing complex operations, staffing models, and clinical workflows in high-acuity settings.
  • Seven (7) years overseeing multimodality imaging facilities in an integrated health system with in-depth knowledge of clinical and business operations specific to imaging services (preferred).
  • Three (3) years of clinical operations and direct patient care experience in diagnostic imaging (preferred).
  • Knowledge of healthcare information technology and patient care workflows.

The full pay range is listed in accordance with applicable law. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, organizational compensation alignment, and the approved hiring department budget for the position. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation and benefits.
