PURPOSE 

 

The Regional Training Manager performs under the direction of the Assistant Quality Director. This position is responsible for the effective training and documentation at donor centers, ensuring consistent implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of the ABO Plasma Training Program. 

Responsibilities include developing new training programs and updating existing training materials as needed to ensure all training is properly completed, and that documentation of all training activities is maintained in compliance with regulatory guidelines and the approved ABO Plasma Training Program. The Regional Training Manager also monitors training effectiveness through regional performance metrics, implementation reviews, Training Coordinator oversight, and trend analysis to identify training opportunities, support corrective actions, and promote operational excellence across assigned donor centers.


General Requirements – Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures, Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Company Policies. Ensure facility is in compliance with all applicable state, federal, consignees and ABO designated regulations. Ensure donor suitability, product integrity, and continued good health of donors through the center’s compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, state regulations, the Standard Operating Procedure Manual guidelines of the Company and any other applicable regulatory standards.

 ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES 

 

  • Coordinate/manage all new center development training.
  • Responsible for overseeing/managing Training Coordinator’s duties. 
  • Coordinates with Center Manager regarding Training Coordinator’s work schedules and PTO requests to ensure training needs are being met.
  • Performs the Training Coordinator’s annual performance reviews
  • Works with the Quality Manager and Center Manager when selecting new Training Coordinator.
  • Creating and developing new and existing NexLynk curriculums as needed.
  • Ensure center adherence to ABO Plasma Training Program standards and annual training requirements.
  • Work in conjunction with Management and Quality to identify and implement corrective measures to eliminate regulatory deficiencies in training.
  • Assists with development and improvement of Company’s SOP and Training Program.
  • Coordinate and deliver employee training on the Company’s SOPs and other regulations, including engaging presentations on newly implemented SOPs, and ensure training and documentation of all SOP implementations and in-services is complete.
  • Maintains employee training records to ensure current and compliant with all regulations and the Company’s SOP.
  • Coordinates and conducts annual OSHA, CGMP, and unplanned variation training.
  • Coordinates Annual CLIA assessments for required employees according to the Company’s SOP.
  • Perform Biannual training audits in center locations to verify compliance and training effectiveness.
  •  Conduct weekly meetings with Training Coordinators to review progress, align priorities, and address any issues.
  • Review Training Coordinators Audit Reponses for Corporate Training Scorecards
  • Review monthly Training Coordinator Center Scorecards to evaluate performance trends, identify discrepancies, and monitor corrective action responses.
  • Review, validate, and present the biweekly Center Phlebotomy Performance Report to Corporate Leadership, providing trend analysis, root cause findings, corrective action status, and regional training performance updates.
  •  Work in conjunction with Assistant Quality Director and Regional Operations Manager for the release of new training material and host training calls when new SOPs are released.
  • Retrains Training Coordinators as needed; notifies Center Manager and Training Coordinator to coordinate retraining when staff members require it.
  • Assists with performing 6-month and Annual assessment for center personnel.
  • Reports to Center Management and Quality Assurance any errors/incidents/events that may affect the safety, purity, identity, or quality of blood products.
  • Oversee and coordinate the center’s certification schedule; initial, annual, CPR.
  • Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness, including individual error rates and center-wide training gaps, using collected data to develop targeted training plans; develop and coordinate training schedules for all new hires (orientation through certification).
  • Coordinate New Hire Onboarding Program with HR and Center Management.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly in-service presentations; prepare monthly in-service training agenda for Center Manager.
  • Complete required performance observations to assess employee performance; monthly performance observations completed for certified staff (including DTs), weekly observations completed for Training Coordinators assigned to new hires.
  • Routinely evaluate Training Coordinator competency, documentation, knowledge-transfer skills and customer service (internal/external).
  • Work with center management team to implement operational changes to enhance center operational effectiveness.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections; responsible to answer to auditor for all center training records and processes.
  • Report all training matters to Center Manager and Assistant Quality Director on a weekly basis (or as needed).
  • Provide feedback for the center’s Biannual performance review processes.
  • Travel to ABO centers as needed for support and auditing purposes.
  • Development of Specialty Program training in NexLynk
  • Update NexLynk as needed with ABO voice recording and assisting with NexLynk configuration testing and validation process as needed.
  • Maintain thorough familiarity and compliance with State and Federal regulations, Standard Operating Procedures Manual, Training Manual, OSHA, cGMP, PPTA, CLIA, AABB, GCC requirements and internal company procedures.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety rules as stated in the Employee Handbook and as otherwise posted or communicated.
  • Any other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS 

 

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) required, with 1-2 years of relevant work experience; or 3-5 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience in a regulated industry required; multi-site or regional oversight experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Plasma Industry experience preferred.
  • Current CPR Card.
  • Certified in Reception area, Donor Floor area and Plasma Processing area within 6 months of starting Regional Training Manager job.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills appropriate for all interactions with employees.
  • Must be flexible to work in an ever changing and fast-paced work environment.
  • Computer skills including proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrate spreadsheet and database computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel independently between centers.
  • Travel 50% or more if needed.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

 

This is primarily an administrative, field-based role. Performing the responsibilities of the job requires the ability to use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls, including a computer keyboard and mouse; and to sit, read, and review documents for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours at a time. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Because this role regularly travels between centers to conduct on-site audits, inspections, and training, it requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods on a recurring basis and may involve exposure to varying facility conditions, such as cold storage areas, across multiple locations (see Work Environment below). Ability to lift, carry, and move materials (e.g., files, a laptop, luggage) up to 25 pounds, consistent with frequent travel.


WORK ENVIRONMENT 

 

This job is based across a professional office environment and region’s donor centers, with approximately 50% travel between centers. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. When traveling on-site for audits and inspections, may be exposed to cold storage areas, bloodborne pathogens and other conditions common to a donor center, and may require overnight travel.
