General Description:

MFG is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our firm. This role is heavily involved in DCM/ECM accounts receivable, CSA and soft-dollar accounting, general ledger activities, clearing-broker reconciliations, and accelerated month‑end and year‑end close processes.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced, compliance‑driven environment, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and brings a process‑oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy, documentation, and internal controls.


General Responsibilities:

  • Reconciling sub-ledgers to general ledger account balances
  • Preparing financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Assisting with preparation of regulatory filings
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close, as well as annual financial audits and periodic regulatory examinations
  • Process and maintain Accounts Receivable related to DCM/ECM transactions
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and variance reporting
  • Reconciling clearing broker transaction activity and account balances
  • Track and record accrued payables
  • Maintaining and reconciling fixed asset and facility lease schedules
  • Assessing internal controls, including risk assessments and review of risk areas
  • Communicate financial status, variances, and issues with the accounting team and management


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in general accounting and financial analysis roles within the broker-dealer industry or financial services sector.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a commitment to professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
  • Attention to detail and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to respond promptly, organize tasks, manage time, and prioritize requests.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • CPA license
  • Working knowledge of SEC and FINRA regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in Access Database
  • Experience with BAML/BCOL reports
