Work Flexibility: Onsite

The Staff R&D Engineer supports and leads project teams in the research and development of medical device products - this includes prototyping, developing, and testing to ensure the concepts and/or prototypes meet requirements. This engineer will focus in fluidic component designs and electro-mechanical control systems. The R&D Engineer staff actively participates in cross-functional product strategy development and in broader initiatives within the R&D organization at the Stryker Peripheral Vascular Division.

What You will Do

  • Contribute to broader R&D initiatives within the Stryker Peripheral Vascular Division, supporting next‑generation device development.
  • Independently research, design, develop, and verify complex mechanical and electro‑mechanical components for vascular thrombectomy platforms.
  • Lead development of mechanical structures, including 3D printing and molding, from concept through verification.
  • Utilize CAD/CAE tools to model new designs and generate detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Define and translate product functional requirements into integrated designs, evaluating performance, cost, reliability, and safety.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Clinical partners to ensure design excellence and manufacturability.
  • Ensure adherence to design controls, risk management, and industry standards, while promoting best engineering practices.

What You Need

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Class II and Class III medical devices.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, with expert-level capabilities.
  • Proven experience in injection-molded part design.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on project experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) concepts and tools.
  • Experience in test development using LabVIEW or Python.
  • Background in verification and validation (V&V) test automation and fixture development.
